11/13/2022 0 Comments Chevy cobalt 2010 die after fews days![]() I am so upset right now and that is a mild description on what I am really feeling right now. So I have paid on a car for 5 years and it is worth nothing. Today is Friday, so I am stranded because after reading all these complaints and because of my own instincts in feeling that my car is not safe to drive, I don't dare go anywhere and even if I try and get rid of this car or trade it in they are going to see it has problems and so I won't get anything for it. The tech said he would call GMAC on Monday. My car only has 59,800 miles on it and I don't know what is going to happen. I had planned on having no payments for a couple of years because I have a student loan and mortgage and I felt like at last maybe I could have a little breathing room financially with no car payment. I just paid my last payment today, after having paid on it for 5 years. The car seemed fine but when I jumped on the highway just 1 hour after getting it fixed it was doing the same exact thing. They said that because I told them I started having problems with it after they changed the ignition they would replace the ignition again as a recall. #Chevy cobalt 2010 die after fews days manuals#When we got back to the service dept he told the service manager that he thought it was the cluster panel but the tech said he would have to look at some technical manuals and give a call to GMAC, and they would call me. The technician suggested we go for a ride and while on the ride the car acted up and he was able to see what I was talking about. Just like I told him, it appears that Chevrolet is waiting for something devastating to happen to my daughter or someone before they fix the issue. I called Chevrolet Company (86) and spoke with Justin who claimed he did see any recalls and will look into the matter. A search on shows that the problem exists with the 2008 which were recalled. The dealer couldn't figure out what's wrong. It was calibrated and still acting up again. They refuse to correct the problem claiming that it must go back to Starling Chevrolet. My daughter, who goes to college in Florida, took the vehicle to Chevrolet dealer in Orlando. Less than six months later the same problem showed up. I was told to go to Starling Chevrolet, Orlando, Florida to have the calibration done. After waiting most of the day, I was told that they could not calibrate the vehicle. While on vacation, I took it to Pep Boys on Vine St, Kissimmee, Florida. The brake (stop) light goes on while she is driving and goes off when she stops. Gm recalled certain years for shifter problems but not the 2007 unfortunately!.Shortly she began experiencing wiring problem with the car. I have seen at least 50 other cases on the internet where this piece breaks and causes the car not to register it being in park and will not release key from ignition. Car was parked front first against building so I have no idea how I will get it towed out of there to a shop to fix it! I suspect the shifter cable assembly at the end of the shifter which is made out of plastic is broken. Was able to remove key from ignition by locating the emergency key release switch under the steering column but car will not start now as key wont turn all the way, and shifter still shifts into any gear without having to press the shifter button. Also in attempts to remove the key the steering wheel is now locked all the way to the right with the wheels locked in the right position. However upon arriving at home the key would not come out of the ignition, and the shifter would shift into any gear easily without having to press in the shifter button. After a few minutes of driving the tightness in the steering went away. Car started fine, steering seemed to be a little tight. The power stering also flashes on the dash and sometimes cuts compleatly out.Īll problems of the 2005 Chevrolet Cobaltīattery died in car, had to jump the car. Agian the normal lasts anywhere between a few hours to a few months as well. After anywhere between a few hours to a few weeks the vehicle will stop acting up and drive normal for a while. I have even had the car shut off completly while I was driving down the road. The transmission will surge as I am driving and I cannot go faster than 30mph. This has happened several times before and eventually the vehicle will start and when it does the battery light stays on and the dash reads engine performance low. Non of the electronics were working so I was unable to pop my trunk. The speedometer read 30mph even though the vehicle never started and wasn't moving. Go to turn the key off and pop my trunk where the battery is located and I can not get my key to turn all the way back to the off position, as a result I cannot remove my key. Like the battery was dead, wouldn't even try to turn over. ![]()
